Job Description Additional Information
The Early Learning and Care Program is currently accepting resumes for term instructor(s) to join a team of educators committed to excellence, collaboration, diversity, and learner‑centered education. Workload opportunities may include courses from both first year and second year.
The successful candidate(s) should have extensive experience and knowledge of current pedagogy of the early years field, and uphold values of decolonizing education, inclusion, collaboration,
equity, diversity, and cultivating culturally safe spaces within the college and community. The Early Learning and Care Diploma ( ELC ) program also supports many multi‑lingual and English language learners and international students and invite applicants with multiple languages to highlight this in their cover letter.
The program is a dynamic, applied diploma program that provides learners with the knowledge, skills and values to create responsive and nurturing early learning experiences for all children and families, including children with diverse abilities from infancy to school aged. The curriculum philosophy uses strength‑based, child and family‑focused principles with an emphasis on democratic and cooperative practices.
Indigenous perspectives on supporting children and families, and connections to nature, land and place, as well as the impact of colonization and the residential school experience, are woven throughout the learning experience. Incorporating a sociocultural perspective informed by contemporary discourse and research, students learn how to support and strengthen children’s unique and complex identities within their contexts of family, community and culture. The program provides graduates with a strong foundation for a variety of professional opportunities in the field of early learning and care, including leadership and advocacy.
