About Us

Licensed to Learn (L2L) is a registered charity offering free peer tutoring and mentorship to help students across Canada succeed academically. Since 2002, we’ve helped over 56,000 students improve their grades and build leadership skills.

Role Overview

L2L Trainers are the instructional leaders of each program. They teach student tutors the skills and strategies they need to mentor peers and help build a thriving school community.

- Facilitate 2–3 hours of structured training at program launch, covering tutoring strategies, communication, empathy, and problem‑solving.
- Guide tutors through hands‑on activities, role‑plays, and reflection exercises that strengthen leadership, teamwork, and confidence.
- Lead mid‑program review sessions to help tutors troubleshoot challenges, share strategies, and celebrate progress.
- Work with the L2L Coordinator to adapt training to local needs and keep delivery on track.




- Support tutor‑student matching and uphold L2L’s standards of safety, empathy, and academic support.

Qualifications & Competencies

- Relevant experience including, but not limited to, classroom teaching and/or youth mentorship
- Passionate about education and supporting children and youth
- Creative problem‑solving capabilities
- Knowledge of Multiple Intelligences, Learning Styles, and Mindsets is considered an asset

L2L is committed to hiring individuals whose lived and/or qualified experience aligns with the diverse student communities we impact. This role comes with flexibility, and trainers can plan their schedule in collaboration with schools and local partners. You can expect a 5-10-hour time commitment per program. Trainers receive an honorarium for each program delivered.
