Develop electrochemical and process engineering skills at CURA’s Calgary laboratory and pilot facilities, working onsite Monday through Friday with occasional remote analysis.
This full time engineering co-op supports cement decarbonization technology from laboratory development through pilot operations. Students are matched with a CURA engineer or scientist and contribute across electrochemical scale-up, pilot operations, clinker production, or process engineering. The work includes testing, data analysis, documentation, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test electrochemical cells and electrolyzer stacks
- Support pilot commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, and sampling
- Prepare feedstocks and interpret chemistry and quality data
- Support balances, modelling, equipment sizing,
and engineering documents
- Analyze results and present findings to technical teams
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in chemical, mechanical, process, or related engineering
- Eligible for an institutional co-op or internship work term
- Completed at least two engineering program years
- Coursework in thermodynamics, transfer, reactions, or electrochemistry
- Working proficiency with Excel or Python for data analysis
Bring hands-on engineering, data analysis, and problem-solving skills to CURA’s Calgary cement decarbonization projects and pilot development.
