Houdini expertise drives this Senior FX Technical Director contract at Image Engine in Vancouver, creating realistic effects within a studio pipeline.
As a Senior FX TD, you will deliver high-quality work for feature film and television shows while mentoring junior and mid-level artists. You will apply supervisor notes, solve shot issues, and implement technical and creative solutions with FX Leads and other departments. The contract starts in September for three months.
Key Responsibilities: Create rigid body, particle, fluid, and cloth effects
Maintain FX tools, setups, and studio best practices
Create shaders, render passes, slap comps, and FX comps
Communicate shot issues, simulation changes, and art direction
Mentor artists and support cross-department information sharing
Requirements: Three years of feature film or television FX experience
Excellent Houdini and Houdini Digital Asset experience
Robust VEX, Hscript, renderer, and data-format knowledge
Strong compositing and complex VFX pipeline experience
British Columbia residency and Canadian work eligibility
