Operate heating and refrigeration systems at McGill University’s Ferrier Building while maintaining assigned building engineering equipment. This full time contract role follows a day shift.
Under the HVAC Supervisor, Zone East, the Building Operator supports Facilities Management and Ancillary Services. Responsibilities cover heating, refrigeration, and other building engineering equipment under assigned care. The position may support hospital operations, patient care, and research activities.
Key Responsibilities: Operate assigned heating equipment and building engineering systems
Maintain refrigeration equipment under assigned responsibility
Support building operations in hospital environments when assigned




Respond to urgent operational requirements when required
Serve on the call-in list as required
Requirements: Valid Fourth Class Stationary Engineering certificate
Class B certificate in Refrigeration Equipment Operations
Functional spoken and read English and French
Functional written English or French
Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment
Bring stationary engineering certification, refrigeration expertise, and bilingual communication to McGill University’s HVAC Operations team.
