Assess and deliver therapeutic recreation services as a Recreation Therapist across Hamilton healthcare sites, using clinical planning and patient-focused interventions. This casual, part-time position includes day and afternoon shifts.
At St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, the Recreation Therapist assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates recreation and leisure programs. Practice uses functional intervention, leisure education, and recreation participation within a holistic approach. The role supports patients with physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, or social limitations, while also completing non-direct client activities.
Key Responsibilities: Assess patient recreation and leisure needs
Plan and implement therapeutic recreation programs
Evaluate recreation and leisure services




Develop individualized treatment plans and interventions
Complete non-direct client activities and documentation
Requirements: Therapeutic Recreation degree, diploma, or postgraduate diploma
Current R/TRO or CTRS registration designation
Relevant First Aid, CPR, and crisis intervention training
Knowledge of client populations, diagnoses, and care models
Robust communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
Apply clinical recreation expertise, individualized planning, and therapeutic intervention skills across St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton programs.
