About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead technical functions at an underground mining operation, including mine planning, surveying, and ground control. The role oversees short-term, medium-term, and life-of-mine planning, as well as stope design, sequencing, drill-and-blast optimization, and ore recovery. The successful candidate will coordinate with operations, maintenance, and processing teams to support plan execution and provide technical guidance on mine design, ventilation, and ground control. Responsibilities also include developing a multidisciplinary team, driving improvements in productivity, dilution control, planning accuracy, and cost efficiency, and delivering technical analysis and recommendations to site leadership.
Candidates should have at least 15 years of underground mining experience, including significant exposure to gold operations, and a degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline. They should bring proven engineering-team leadership, strong underground mine-planning and stope-design expertise, and knowledge of methods such as long-hole stoping. Experience with mine-planning software and knowledge of ground control and ventilation are required; a Skilled Engineer designation and Northern Ontario experience are assets. The role also calls for strong stakeholder management, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to balance technical standards with operational and cost considerations.
