Operate a dredge safely and efficiently on the Syncrude Site near Fort McMurray, Alberta, supporting tailings pond operations on a 6-on, 6-off schedule.
Under Team Lead direction, the Dredge and Utility Operator clears mining-related settlement buildup from a tailings pond. The full-time, safety-sensitive position includes equipment checks, cleaning, basic maintenance, troubleshooting, pump setups, pipe bolt-ups, and tender boat operations. Pre-employment and pre-access testing are required.
Key Responsibilities: Operate dredge equipment in a tailings pond
Perform manual labour, pump setups, and pipe bolt-ups
Set dredge anchors and operate the tender boat
Complete equipment checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance
Follow Team Lead instructions and participate in toolbox meetings
Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid Class 5 licence and satisfactory three-year driver abstract
CSTS 09, OSSA, BSO, or CSO certification
One to three years of equipment operating experience required
Legal eligibility to work in Canada and English proficiency
Bring dredge operation, equipment maintenance, and protected work practices to tailings pond operations at Syncrude Site.
