Develop machine learning models for application security at Akamai, using Python and SQL or Spark on large datasets.
As a Senior II Data Scientist, you will strengthen security products by analyzing data, addressing customer challenges, and improving detection. You will collaborate across development teams to implement solutions and provide insights shaping strategy and performance. The work supports highly scalable technologies within Akamai’s Global Web Security group.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze large datasets to distinguish legitimate and fraudulent traffic
Develop detection rules and models for security products
Improve production-ready data collection and analysis processes
Troubleshoot issues in highly distributed environments
Provide insights supporting product improvements and detection accuracy
Requirements: Eight years of relevant experience and bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Experience using SQL or Spark and Python with large datasets
Understanding of probability, statistics, and machine learning techniques
Practical knowledge of bot or fraud detection products
Familiarity with TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL protocols
Apply machine learning, data analysis, and application security expertise to improve Akamai’s detection products and distributed systems.
