The Engineering Designer serves as a technical expert for Air-Core Coil products, including air core reactors. Responsibilities include electromagnetic and electrical design, insulation coordination, thermal evaluations, and basic structural design. You will optimize performance, cost, weight, and manufacturability while coordinating complex structural analysis and supporting customer testing. The position also contributes to risk assessments, design standards, calculation tools, automation, and continuous improvement. Strong communication, attention to detail, and independent project management are central to the work.
Key Responsibilities: Perform full electromagnetic design for air core reactors
Evaluate thermal performance, losses, ratings,



and temperature rise
Optimize designs for cost, weight, performance, and manufacturability
Assess and mitigate design, manufacturing, and test risks
Review test reports and resolve testing non-conformances
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum three years of design engineering experience
Working knowledge of structural design principles
Ability to model electromagnetics, thermal performance, and structural dynamics
Ability to interpret customer specifications, codes, and standards
Use electromagnetic design, thermal evaluation, and risk assessment expertise to advance reliable reactor products at Trench Canada.
