This permanent part time Swim Instructor role reports to the Aquatics Supervisor. Responsibilities include leading varied lesson plans, evaluating participants, responding to emergencies, and following YMCA policies. Coverage includes weekdays, evenings, weekends, and Saturday shifts at Chilliwack facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Lead swimming lessons across various programs
Evaluate participant progress through structured assessments
Maintain safety for members, staff, and property
Build positive relationships with members and colleagues
Assist with training new staff and volunteers
Requirements: YSI or Swim Instructor Certification
Standard First Aid valid within three years
CPR Level C and AED valid within one year
High-level customer service skills
Flexible approach and strong work ethic
Apply aquatics instruction, emergency response, and relationship-building skills within YMCA BC’s Chilliwack community centres.
