Care for horses, cattle, and other large animals as an Agricultural Assistant at the University of Guelph’s Health Sciences Centre. Support patient care in a temporary part-time schedule.
Reporting to the Manager, Patient Care and Service Delivery, this Agricultural Assistant supports clinicians, Registered Veterinary Technicians, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students. Duties include husbandry care, patient handling, specialized feedings, and herd care within the Large Animal Hospital. The position may provide cross-trained support to other Health Sciences Centre units.
Key Responsibilities: Provide cleaning, grooming, feeding, and exercise for patients
Track patient intake, output, and specialized feedings
Handle large animals during procedures and trailer loading




Monitor animal health changes and report concerns
Maintain inventory and equipment logs
Requirements: Two-year related college diploma and one year’s clinic experience
Animal Care Certificate or large animal coursework preferred
Effective customer service, organizational, and communication skills
Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and versatile shift availability
Proof of rabies titre required
Apply large animal husbandry, patient handling, and communication skills supporting teaching, research, and clinical care.
