This casual, part-time clinical position serves patients across designated Hamilton sites. The Recreation Therapist uses functional intervention, leisure education, and recreation participation within a holistic approach. Practice follows Therapeutic Recreation Ontario standards, ethical guidance, and the Leisure Ability Model.
Key Responsibilities: Assess patient recreation and leisure needs
Plan individualized therapeutic recreation programs and services
Implement group and individual interventions
Evaluate recreation and leisure programs
Guide volunteers and precept students
Requirements: Therapeutic Recreation degree, diploma, or post-graduate diploma
Current R/TRO or CTRS designation
Maintained TRO membership in positive standing
First Aid, CPR, and relevant crisis training
One year related clinical experience preferred
Use therapeutic recreation expertise, critical thinking, and communication skills to support individualized patient interventions throughout Hamilton.
