Support Nortera’s vegetable production by scouting crop development and field pest pressure across Essex, Kent, Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford counties. This seasonal role offers full time work from May through September 2027.
The Agricultural Crop Scout monitors peas, sweet corn, snap beans, and lima beans throughout their growth stages. You will assist with pre-harvest samples and identify weeds, diseases, and insects in fields. The position is based at one Nortera plant while primarily requiring regional travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor growth stages for four vegetable crops
Assess field pressure from weeds, diseases, and insects
Collect pre-harvest samples with the agricultural team
Travel between fields across assigned counties
Requirements:
Enrollment in post-secondary agricultural studies
Ability to work independently
Solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
G license with a clean driving abstract
Ability to work weekends and extended hours
Bring agricultural studies, independent fieldwork, and crop monitoring skills to Nortera’s seasonal vegetable scouting program.
