We're hiring steel stud framers for our large community centre and library project in Burnaby. We have openings at two levels: experienced framers who can work productively from drawings with little supervision, and apprentices with a year or two of commercial framing behind them who want to keep building their skills on a quality job.
What you'll be doing
- Framing steel stud walls, bulkheads, soffits and ceilings
- Building rated and acoustic assemblies, shaft walls and heavier-gauge framing
- Framing openings, headers and box-outs to drawings and partition schedules
- Installing backing and deflection track where required
- Working with the lead hand and site super to keep the job moving and the work built right the first time
- Keeping your work area clean, organized and safe
What we're looking for
Experienced framers:
- Several years of commercial steel stud framing experience
- Comfortable reading architectural drawings and partition schedules
- Able to work independently and keep pace on a production crew
Apprentices:
- 1-2 years of commercial steel stud framing experience
- A good work ethic and a real interest in learning the trade
- Registered apprentices or those working toward Interior Systems Mechanic certification are encouraged to apply
All candidates:
- Own hand tools, reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence
- Fall protection and WHMIS training (or willing to get certified)
- Red Seal or Journeyperson Interior Systems Mechanic is an asset but not required
