About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 89-year-old woman living in Stevensville who recently lost her husband of 69 years this past February. She's remarkably independent and active, but needs support getting out of the house and maintaining her social connections. She uses a walker occasionally when out shopping and is considered a fall risk, particularly with winter approaching. She's a lovely, social person who enjoys sharing stories about her late husband with everyone she meets. She lives with her adult son who is legally blind and works from home, so he has limited ability to provide transportation and assistance.

Responsibilities:

• Provide transportation and companionship for errands including grocery shopping, trips to Walmart for clothing and household items, and visits to the LCBO • Accompany client to medical appointments as needed • Assist with light housekeeping tasks, particularly changing bed linens and other tasks that require two hands • Support meal preparation as needed • Provide companionship during outings to restaurants like Harvey's and occasional casino visits • Ensure safety during outings, particularly in winter conditions • Help maintain her active lifestyle and social connections

What We're Looking For:

warm personality who enjoys conversation and can listen compassionately to stories about her late husband • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license • Comfortable with 3-hour visits that may include multiple stops and activities • Ability to assist someone who uses a walker and is a fall risk • Flexible and easygoing approach to spending time together • Experience with seniors who are largely independent but need companionship and transportation support

Schedule:

Two 3-hour visits biweekly, starting around 10:00 AM or later. Preferred days are Monday and Thursday, or Wednesday and Thursday to break up the time between her Tuesday card games. Tuesday is not available as she has standing commitments. The schedule is flexible and can be adjusted based on caregiver availability, as long as visits avoid Tuesdays.
