Weekend Shift Supervisor – CNC Manufacturing Overview

Source Machine is seeking an experienced, hands-on Weekend Shift Supervisor to lead our CNC manufacturing operations Friday through Sunday.

This is a full-time leadership position designed for an experienced CNC machinist or manufacturing supervisor who can provide strong technical support, coordinate production priorities, and lead a team with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly on the shop floor, supporting CNC setups and troubleshooting when required, while also taking ownership of the overall performance of the weekend shift.

Schedule

Friday through Sunday – 3 x 12-hour shifts

- Work 36 hours per week
- Paid for 40 hours per week
- Full time permanent position
- Four days off each week

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise all weekend manufacturing activities across the shop.
- Coordinate employees, machines, and production priorities to ensure scheduled work is completed on time.
- Review the production schedule at the beginning of each shift and communicate clear priorities to the team.
- Provide hands-on technical support for CNC lathe and milling operations, including setups, offsets, tooling, program adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Support machining operations on Mazak, Doosan, Fanuc-controlled, and other CNC equipment.
- Ensure first-off inspections, in-process inspections, and required quality documentation are completed correctly.
- Monitor production throughout the shift and address issues that could impact safety, quality, productivity, or delivery.

- Ensure employees follow established machining processes, setup documentation, inspection requirements, and company procedures.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and immediately address unsafe practices or conditions.
- Coach, train, and develop machinists, operators, and apprentices on the weekend shift.
- Provide clear expectations and hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, quality, safety, and workplace standards.
- Coordinate with weekday supervisors and management to ensure effective shift handoffs and communication of outstanding issues.
- Escalate equipment, quality, staffing, or production issues when additional support is required.
- Promote organization, cleanliness, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement throughout the shop.
- Lead by example and be willing to work directly with the team when additional technical or production support is needed.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of CNC machining experience in a production manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory, lead hand, or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with CNC lathes and/or CNC milling machines.
- Demonstrated ability to independently set up and troubleshoot CNC equipment.
- Experience with Mazak/Mazatrol, Doosan, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls is an asset.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, machining specifications, and work instructions.
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances, tooling, speeds and feeds, workholding, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
- Comfortable using computers and manufacturing/ERP systems to review schedules, jobs, drawings, and production information.
- Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead independently and make sound decisions with limited management presence during the weekend.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and customer requirements.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a working supervisor, not someone who manages from an office. The successful candidate will be visible on the shop floor, engaged with the team, and capable of stepping in technically when challenges arise.

You should be someone who can organize the shift, develop employees, solve problems, maintain accountability, and keep production moving while ensuring safety and quality are never compromised.

At Source Machine, our focus is on delivering for our customers while continuing to develop our people and improve our processes. This position will play an important role in building a strong, independent weekend team capable of consistently meeting those expectations.

Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
