Technicians must be able to independently read and interpret cut sheets, rack elevation drawings, port mapping, and cabling documentation.

This is a full-time, on-site project requiring successful candidates to travel to the project site and stay there for the duration of the 3 month assignment.

The role involves hands-on data center infrastructure, rack and stack, structured cabling, copper and fiber optic installation, testing, and equipment deployment.

Accommodation and Daily Allowances will be provided for the duration of the project.

Candidates must be comfortable working away from home and staying at the project site for approximately 3 months.

Key Responsibilities

1. Rack & Stack Installation

- Install and mount servers, network switches, patch panels, and other data center equipment in designated racks.

- Follow rack elevation drawings and equipment installation instructions.

- Install rails, brackets, cable management accessories, and associated hardware.

- Ensure equipment is securely mounted, properly labeled, and positioned according to project specifications.

2. Fiber Optic Cable Installation

- Pull, route, and install fiber optic cables, including high-density multifiber trunk cables.

- Work with MPO/MTP fiber optic connectors and assemblies.

- Route fiber through overhead cable trays, ladder racks, and designated pathways.

- Maintain proper bend radius, cable protection, and tension requirements.

- Dress and secure fiber cables using approved cable management methods.

3. MPO/MTP Fiber Connectivity

- Perform MPO/MTP cable connections and patching according to cut sheets and port mapping.

- Identify and understand fiber connector types, polarity, and cable configurations.

- Connect multifiber trunks to fiber cassettes, patch panels, and network equipment.

- Ensure proper connector inspection, cleaning, and handling before mating.

- Verify connections against the approved cabling documentation.

4. Cable Dressing & Management

- Professionally dress fiber and copper cables within racks and cable pathways.

- Maintain organized cable routing, separation, and slack management.

- Install cable managers, Velcro straps, and cable identification labels.

- Ensure all cabling meets data center workmanship standards.

5. Cut Sheet Interpretation & Documentation

- Read and accurately interpret fiber cut sheets, rack elevations, and port-to-port connection schedules.

- Identify source and destination racks, patch panels, equipment ports, and cable IDs.

- Perform cable connections strictly according to provided cut sheets.

- Report discrepancies, missing information, or incorrect port assignments before proceeding.

- Complete cable installation records, labeling, and work completion reports.

6. Testing & Quality Control

- Perform visual inspections of installed cables and connections.

- Support fiber testing using appropriate equipment such as OLTS and polarity testers, where required.

- Troubleshoot incorrect patching, damaged connectors, and basic fiber connectivity issues.

- Ensure all work complies with project specifications and applicable data center standards.

Required Skills & Experience

- Previous hands-on experience working in live or newly constructed data centers.

- Strong experience with rack and stack installation.

- Experience pulling, routing, dressing, and connecting fiber optic cables.

- Practical knowledge of MPO/MTP multifiber connectors and fiber patching.

- Ability to read and follow cut sheets, rack elevations, and port mapping without constant supervision.

- Understanding of fiber bend radius, connector cleanliness, polarity, and proper cable management.

- Experience working with high-density fiber infrastructure.

- Ability to follow site safety procedures, change-control requirements, and data center operational protocols.

- Robust attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a deployment team.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in hyperscale or enterprise data center deployments.

- Familiarity with LC, MPO/MTP, OS2 single-mode, and OM4/OM5 multimode fiber.

- Experience with Cisco, Dell, HPE, or similar data center equipment.

- Familiarity with fiber inspection scopes, cleaning tools, VFLs, and optical testing equipment.

- Previous experience working on large-scale rack deployment or fiber infrastructure projects.

Work Expectations

Technicians are expected to complete rack installations, fiber pulling, MPO/MTP connectivity, cable dressing, and documentation accurately and efficiently, following the approved cut sheets and project specifications. All work must meet professional data center installation standards, with minimal supervision and strict adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Important: Candidates must have actual hands-on experience with MPO/MTP fiber cabling, rack and stack operations, and reading fiber cut sheets. General IT support experience alone is not sufficient for this position
