EDMONTON UNLIMITED

Edmonton Unlimited (EU) is the city’s innovation agency, here to back bold thinkers and builders—entrepreneurs tackling real challenges and creating what’s next. Our vision? To establish a critical mass of entrepreneurs working to scale technology and innovation companies toward global impact. We’re building a culture where trying, failing fast, and trying again is part of the process—because every idea has the potential to spark something bigger.

Your Opportunity:

We are seeking a Full-Time Content & Social Media Specialist to bring Edmonton’s entrepreneurs, companies, technologies and ideas to life through compelling digital content. You’ll put founders and their stories front and centre, helping new audiences discover the people building companies in our city and better understand what entrepreneurship in technology and innovation can look like.

This role goes beyond social media. You’ll create and adapt content across social channels, email campaigns and newsletters, web and other digital platforms, bringing strong writing and storytelling skills together with a digital-first mindset. You’ll have room to experiment, challenge conventional approaches and bring fresh ideas to how we create and share content.

What We’re Looking For:

-
Compelling Storyteller: You can spot a compelling story, find the angle others might miss, and turn it into content people actually want to read, watch, share or click.
- Digital Content Pro: You're confident creating and adapting content across social channels, email campaigns, newsletters, web and other digital platforms.
- Social Media Strategist: You understand how to grow audiences, increase engagement and create platform-specific content that connects with different audiences.
- Creative Thinker: You bring strong editorial judgment, fresh ideas and the confidence to challenge conventional approaches when there's an opportunity to do something better.
- Analytical Mindset: You use audience insights, channel performance and campaign data to refine content and improve results.
- Collaborative Relationship Builder: You build strong relationships across teams, uncover stories and ideas, and bring them to life through compelling content.

What You’ll Do:

- Develop and execute Edmonton Unlimited’s content and social media strategies, creating engaging content that supports organizational priorities, grows audiences, and strengthens brand awareness.
- Proactively identify and develop compelling stories and thought leadership content about founders, companies, emerging technologies and Edmonton’s innovation community.
- Interview founders, partners and other contributors, turning their perspectives into engaging founder profiles, articles, newsletters, website content, social media posts and other digital content.
- Plan, create and publish platform-specific content, including short-form video, graphics and multimedia storytelling, while managing social media channels and audience engagement.
- Support and optimize paid social and pay-per-click campaigns, using audience targeting and performance insights to improve results.
- Use social media, website, email and campaign analytics to evaluate performance, refine content strategies and improve reach and engagement.
- Apply social SEO, accessibility and digital content best practices, while exploring current formats, AI tools and emerging technologies to strengthen content and workflows.
- Collaborate across the organization and with creative contributors to uncover stories, coordinate content needs and manage editorial calendars, approvals and publishing deadlines.

What You Bring to the Role:

- 7+ years of experience in content strategy, digital marketing, social media, communications or a related field, with a strong track record of creating content that performs across digital channels.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, supported by a strong portfolio of written, visual, video and multimedia content.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing content and social media strategies that build audience engagement, strengthen brand awareness and support organizational goals.

- Hands-on experience creating and editing short-form video, managing social media channels and developing email marketing campaigns and newsletters.
- Proficiency with digital marketing tools, including content management systems, email marketing platforms, social media management platforms and analytics tools.
- Strong editorial judgment, creative instincts and an analytical mindset, with experience using performance data and audience insights to improve content and results.
- Knowledge of social SEO, digital accessibility, emerging platform trends and the thoughtful use of AI tools in content development.
- Strong project management, organizational and relationship-building skills, with the ability to independently lead initiatives and collaborate across teams.
- Additional Assets: Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or similar tools; knowledge of Edmonton’s startup, innovation and technology community; and experience with event platforms such as Luma.

As part of our team, you’ll enjoy:

-
Learning & Growth: Access professional development opportunities, workshops, and resources to expand your skills and advance your career.
- Competitive Benefits: We offer a robust benefits package to support your health and well-being.
- Flexibility: Enjoy sick and personal time when you need it.
- Event Participation: Be at the center of Edmonton’s innovation scene, contributing to and experiencing exciting events like Startup Week, community gatherings, and more.
- Celebrate Success Together: Join in on fun opportunities to represent Edmonton Unlimited and celebrate our collective wins.
- Holiday Shutdown: Recharge during our annual holiday closure.
