Job Description

The F.V. Raw Spirit, a Canadian commercial freezer trawler, is seeking reliable, hardworking, and motivated individuals to join our crew.

We are looking for team players who enjoy hands-on work, have a strong work ethic, and are ready for the unique challenges and rewards of life at sea.

Whether you're an experienced fisherman or someone interested in starting a career in the marine industry, this position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience aboard a working commercial vessel.

Key Responsibilities

Process, sort, package, and freeze fish products.

Operate and maintain fish-processing equipment.

Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and product quality standards.

Assist with loading, unloading, and general vessel duties.

Follow vessel safety procedures and participate in safety drills.

Work cooperatively with the crew in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Physically capable of repetitive work, lifting, and extended periods on your feet.

Comfortable working in cold, wet, and sometimes challenging conditions (Up to -32°C).

Able to live and work aboard a vessel for extended periods.

Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work well with others.

Previous fishing, seafood processing, or marine experience is an asset but not necessarily required.

A Note About Life at Sea

Commercial fishing is an exciting and rewarding industry, but it isn't for everyone!

Our vessel operates in open-ocean conditions, where rough weather, vessel movement, and extended periods away from shore are part of the job.

Applicants should be comfortable with ocean travel and confident in their ability to work aboard a moving vessel. If you experience severe or persistent motion sickness, we encourage you to carefully consider whether this position would be a good fit.
