About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 90-year-old gentleman living independently in his home. He's easy-going, self-sufficient with daily activities like bathing and cooking, but experiencing mobility challenges following a hip fracture last year. He's been regressing in strength and has difficulty standing from seated positions, gripping objects due to rotator cuff issues in both shoulders, and managing stairs. He speaks primarily Italian with some English. He has monthly blood transfusions for low hemoglobin and occasional medical appointments. The family wants to help him maintain independence while ensuring safety and preventing further decline.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct daily physiotherapy exercises (prescribed routine provided) focusing on strength, mobility, and range of motion for hips, legs, and shoulders
- Prepare lunch and dinner, following his preferences for straightforward Italian-style meals
- Light housekeeping including tidying, cleaning up spills, occasional bed-making, and kitchen cleanup
- Accompany client to medical appointments via taxi or Uber (caregiver will coordinate transportation)
- Occasional grocery shopping and banking errands
- Monitor safety during daily activities, particularly in the kitchen
- Provide companionship and encouragement to maintain activity levels
- Document progress and any concerns in post-visit reports

What We're Looking For:

- Experience with physiotherapy support and implementing prescribed exercise routines
- Ability to motivate clients who may be reluctant or discouraged




- Knowledge of mobility assistance techniques and fall prevention
- Comfortable with basic vital signs monitoring (blood pressure)
- Patient, warm personality that puts seniors at ease
- Some Italian language skills strongly preferred
- Reliable, communicative, and proactive
- Comfortable coordinating transportation for appointments
- Cooking skills with ability to prepare nutritious meals

Schedule:

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (9 hours per week). Consistency is essential for building trust and maintaining the exercise routine. Start date flexible, ideally mid-October with an initial meet-and-greet visit.
