Preferred start date: November 30, 2026
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a small, family-run community pharmacy looking for a friendly, reliable, and hands-on Pharmacy Assistant to join our team.
Our smaller prescription volume allows time for personal service and getting to know our customers. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people, takes initiative with everyday tasks, and wants to help our pharmacy grow through excellent service and lasting relationships in the neighbourhood.
SCHEDULE AND PAY
Our preferred regular starting schedule is:
- Monday–Saturday: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM
- Five paid hours per day, six days per week
- Total: 30 paid hours per week
Reliable, punctual attendance at 10:00 AM is especially important, as this position helps ensure the pharmacy is ready to serve customers when it opens.
Depending on pharmacy needs, we may occasionally offer additional paid hours after 3:00 PM. These hours are paid at the same rate of $18.00 per hour and are not guaranteed. Availability for additional hours is appreciated but is not a requirement for the regular 30-hour schedule.
We may discuss alternative schedules with suitable candidates, but our priority is consistent 10:00 AM opening coverage, including Saturdays.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Welcome customers, answer routine enquiries, assist at the counter, and direct medication or clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Enter prescription and patient information accurately into pharmacy software under pharmacist supervision.
- Assist the pharmacist with everyday pharmacy tasks and keep records and supplies organized.
- Maintain a clean, tidy pharmacy, including routine cleaning of counters, shelves, and floors.
- Receive, organize, and restock pharmacy supplies and front-store products.
- Make local prescription deliveries on foot during paid working hours to nearby seniors’ apartment buildings, primarily two or three buildings with multiple deliveries per building. Deliveries involve outdoor walking, including during cold and winter weather.
No personal vehicle or driver's licence is required.
- Occasionally lift or move boxes containing pharmacy supplies, prescriptions, or records, using safe handling practices and assistance when needed.
- Help recent and returning customers feel welcome and become familiar with our pharmacy's services.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A friendly, approachable manner and clear, respectful communication.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality, particularly for 10:00 AM opening shifts.
- Willingness to perform varied duties, including customer service, cleaning, stocking, and walking deliveries.
- Attention to detail and comfort using computers or learning pharmacy software.
- Respect for patient confidentiality and the ability to follow the pharmacist's instructions.
- Previous pharmacy assistant, healthcare, retail, or customer-service experience is an asset.
COMMUTING TO WORK
Employees are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation to and from the pharmacy. We do not reimburse routine commuting costs.
Please consider our North York location, the six-day preferred schedule, and your ability to arrive reliably for 10:00 AM opening shifts before applying.
