A – POSITION DESCRIPTION

Scope of Position:

Production Associates are the hands-on core of Galati Cheese Company's manufacturing operation, supporting all stages of artisan cheese production under the direct supervision of the Head Cheese Maker. This role performs production, sanitation, and packaging tasks in compliance with HACCP, GMP, and CFIA food safety standards, contributing to the consistent quality and output that defines the Galati brand.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in all stages of cheese production including curd preparation, moulding, filling, pressing, and product finishing.

- Perform daily and deep-clean sanitation of production equipment, process rooms, and ancillary areas per HACCP and GMP protocols.

- Operate packaging equipment to accurately portion, seal, label, and date finished cheese products.

- Verify product weights, labels, and code dates at the packaging stage for accuracy.

- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the production and packaging areas throughout the shift.

- Complete sanitation logs, production records, and packaging documentation accurately and on time.

- Adhere to personal hygiene, PPE, and GMP requirements at all times.

- Report product quality deviations, food safety concerns, or equipment issues to the Head Cheese Maker immediately.

- Cross-train across production tasks as directed by the Head Cheese Maker to support scheduling flexibility.

- Participate in team training sessions, food safety updates, and HACCP program activities.

Key Relationships:

- Head Cheese Maker (Anvi): Reports directly; receives daily task direction, coaching,



and performance feedback.

- Production Team: Works collaboratively with all fellow production associates across the shift.

- QA Technician (Anu Sunny): Cooperates on quality checks, environmental swabs, and corrective action follow-up.

Decision-Making Authority:

Executes assigned production, sanitation, and packaging tasks according to established SOPs. Any deviations from standard procedures or product quality issues are escalated immediately to the Head Cheese Maker.

Problem Solving Responsibility:

Expected to recognize and report production, sanitation, or packaging anomalies. Applies standard operating procedures and seeks guidance from the Head Cheese Maker when uncertain.

B – POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Formal Education and Training:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Food Handler Certification required or to be obtained upon hire.

- HACCP awareness training an asset.

Work Experience:

- Prior experience in food manufacturing, dairy, or a production workplace is preferred.

- Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and work ethic are the primary hiring criteria.

- Basic literacy and numeracy for production records, weight verification, and labelling.

C – POSITION CHARACTERISTICS

Impact & Accountabilities:

Production Associates are integral to the daily output, food safety compliance, and product quality of Galati Cheese Company. Consistent, reliable performance in this role is the foundation of every batch of cheese that reaches Galati's customers.

Supervisory Responsibility:

No supervisory responsibility.

D – WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed on the production floor in a refrigerated, wet environment requiring extended standing and physical activity. Full PPE including non-slip footwear, hair nets, gloves, and protective clothing is mandatory. Early morning start times are standard and weekend production may be required.

E – EFFORT

Mental Effort:

Requires sustained attention to food safety protocols, labelling accuracy, and production record keeping throughout the shift.

Physical Effort:

Physically demanding role requiring prolonged standing, lifting of up to 40 lbs, repetitive motion, and work in cold, wet production conditions.

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44.0 per week
