Who we are

Radius Industrial Works is a heavy duty service shop (CVSE shop) and equipment dealership in Maple Ridge, serving the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. We are highway, off highway, forestry, construction, and utility specialists. In any given week our bays hold excavators, commercial trucks, bucket truck booms, chippers, and grinders. Repairs, commercial vehicle inspections, and boom inspections (mechanical, NDT, dielectric) all happen under one roof, with mobile dispatch for field repairs.

We run a tight shop. Our average turnaround on 90 percent of shop repairs is 1.8 days, and we just posted the strongest month in company history. Customers like United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, and Metro Vancouver trust us with their equipment because we aim to earn a customer for life on every job.

The role

This is a key role in the business, with the option to own part of it. You lead the branch, have a direct hand in where Radius goes next, and after a 12 to 24 month trial period you can buy in and take an ownership stake. The mission has three parts:

1. Operational excellence. Deliver best in class turnaround, productivity, quality, cost, and safety, and build the processes and systems that let us grow without losing that standard.

2. A strong, cohesive crew. Coach, train, support, and hold people accountable so every technician and parts team member performs at their best. Respect for people is at the centre of how we lead.

3. Growth. Scale the branch as we land new contracts and take on new types of work.

What you will do

- Build and deliver the repair plan for the mechanic team every day: shop and field work scheduled so technicians stay productive and every promise to the customer is kept.

- Own every job from intake to invoice: estimate, parts, labour, quality check, road test,



and customer update.

- Deal directly with customers from first call to pickup: quotes, approvals, progress updates, and resolving concerns so they come back.

- Run the parts team: ordering, inventory, and supplier relationships, getting the right part to the bench on time and on budget while keeping backorders and freight costs down.

- Set parts stocking levels with the mechanic team so common jobs never wait on a part.

- Lead pre delivery inspections on new Forst, Timberwolf, JP Carlton, and Sullivan Palatek equipment, and manage Sullivan Palatek warranty and repair work for all of BC.

- Set customers up in our systems for ongoing preventive maintenance.

- Track turnaround, technician utilization, comebacks, and on time completion every week, and act on the numbers.

- Run effective team meetings and regular one on ones with each technician and parts team member.

- Keep the shop safe. Zero lost time accidents is the standard.

What you bring

- 5 or more years in a heavy duty, commercial truck, forestry, construction, or utility equipment shop, with at least 3 of those years leading technicians as a service manager, shop foreman, or lead hand.

- Real mechanical knowledge. Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic is preferred. At minimum, you can diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults, read OEM wiring diagrams, and tell when a job is quoted wrong.

- A record of building crews people want to stay on: clear standards, regular one on ones, low turnover, and technicians who grew their skills and tickets under you.

- You lead from the floor. You coach, you hold people to the standard,



and you deal with problems the same day instead of letting them sit.

- You build a high accountability culture. Standards are clear, everyone owns their work from diagnosis to road test, and people deliver what they promise. Your crew backs each other on hard jobs and brings you ideas to improve the shop.

- You act as an extension of the business with customers. You can explain a repair, a cost, or a delay to a fleet manager in plain terms, and they trust your call and come back.

- You think like an owner. You understand labour rates, technician efficiency, parts margins and inventory, job margins, and warranty recovery, and you protect them.

- Clear written communication for estimates, work orders, and customer updates. Comfortable with shop management software and Excel.

- Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and commercial vehicle inspection standards. A CVI inspector designation or NDT and dielectric experience is an asset.

- Valid BC driver’s licence.

- $100,000 to $125,000 per year plus 20 percent bonus (120k to 150k)
