Job Overview

Our employer partner is seeking motivated and dependable Prep Cooks to support food preparation and kitchen operations for hospitality clients throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Durham Region.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of basic food preparation techniques, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, cutting, and portioning food items.
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with daily food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Prepare basic menu items according to established recipes, instructions, and portion standards.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary food preparation areas.
- Clean and maintain kitchen utensils, preparation equipment, and workstations.
- Monitor food quality and promptly report concerns to supervisors or chefs.
- Follow proper food handling,



sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food deliveries and supplies.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Perform additional food preparation and kitchen duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

- Previous experience as a Prep Cook, Kitchen Helper, or in a food preparation role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion control guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and food safety.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with kitchen staff.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting kitchen supplies as required.
- Flexible availability for weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Food Handler Certification is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is an asset.
- WHMIS certification is an asset.

Compensation and Opportunities

- Hourly pay: $18.00–$21.00, based on experience.
