Do you love seeing your designs come to life on the shop floor? At Legacy Art & Gauge, our designers work right alongside the toolmakers, machinists and automation team who build what the Designers create. We’re a close-knit team building precision gauges, checking fixtures and automation equipment for leading automotive manufacturers, and we’re looking for a skilled designer to grow with us.
What you’ll do:
- Design tube and hose checking gauges, from concept through detailed drawings
- Design checking fixtures for automotive components and assemblies
- Support the design of automation cells and assembly equipment
- Create 3D models, detailed drawings and BOMs in VISI
- Apply GD&T; and interpret customer part data and specifications
- Work with the shop floor to make sure designs are practical to build
- Communicate with customers on design reviews, approvals and engineering changes
What we’re looking for:
- Experience designing gauges, checking fixtures and/or automation equipment (5+ years preferred)
- Working knowledge of VISI, or strong skills in another CAD software and a willingness to learn VISI
- Good understanding of GD&T; and machining processes
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- A curious, hands-on attitude and eagerness to keep learning
Nice to have:
- Experience with tubing/hose routing gauges
- Experience with any CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
