Job Overview
Industrial Maintenance Technician (Machinery & Cold Chain)
Professional Summary Results-driven Industrial Maintenance Technician specializing in food processing machinery, industrial ammonia/fluorocarbon commercial refrigeration systems, and plant-level climate control. Extensive experience maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and specialized low-temperature cooling infrastructure critical to cold-storage food facilities (-2°C to -3°C environments). Proven track record of minimizing operational downtime, executing rigorous preventive maintenance, and ensuring strict compliance with food safety and cold-chain hygiene standards (HACCP/GMP).
Core Competencies & Machinery Expertise
- Industrial Refrigeration & Climate Systems:
- Large-scale walk-in freezers, blast chillers, cold-storage holding rooms (-2°C to -3°C), and process air conditioning units.
- Overhauling, diagnosing, and servicing industrial compressors (reciprocating/screw), evaporators, condenser banks, and thermostatic expansion valves (TXVs).
- Refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection, and oil management under cold-chain compliance.
- Food Processing & Packaging Machinery:
- Conveyor lines, sorting systems, vacuum sealers, industrial mixers, and packaging equipment.
- Mechanical drives, gearboxes, bearings, belt/chain drives, and pneumatic/hydraulic actuators.
- Diagnostics & Electrical Control:
- PLC I/O troubleshooting, 3-phase motor controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), contactors, sensors, and defrost cycle timing logic.
- Precision calibration of industrial temperature probes, pressure switches, and monitoring telemetry.
- Sanitation & Compliance:
- Food-grade lubrication protocols, stainless steel hardware maintenance, and moisture/frost mitigation in sub-zero zones.
Key Responsibilities & Bullet Points
- Machinery Reliability & Overhaul: Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on high-capacity food processing and packaging machinery, replacing worn mechanical components (belts, seals, sprockets, bearings, and drive assemblies) to eliminate unexpected line stoppages.
- Sub-Zero Refrigeration Operations: Monitor, troubleshoot, and calibrate industrial refrigeration units and central chillers keeping processing halls and storage vaults secure at -2°C to -3°C, preventing product spoilage or temperature excursions.
- Defrost & Humidity Management: Maintain automated hot-gas and electric defrost systems to prevent evaporator coil icing and maintain proper air velocity throughout refrigerated production areas.
- Emergency Mechanical Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose electro-mechanical failures across automated production machinery and auxiliary cooling systems using multimeters, pressure gauges, and diagnostic flowcharts.
- Sanitation & Food Safety Adherence: Execute all mechanical repairs using certified food-grade lubricants and sanitizable tooling in compliance with HACCP, OSHA, and FDA/local food manufacturing regulations.
Job Type: Full-time
Benefits:
- In office parking
Experience:
- Food industry: 3 years (required)
- Maintenance: 3 years (required)
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (required)
Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
