What We Do

At Carson Dunlop, we don’t just inspect buildings, we build trust. For over four decades, we’ve been a leader in home inspection, education, and reporting solutions, helping homeowners, real estate professionals, and industry experts make informed decisions with confidence. Our work is rooted in integrity, technical excellence, and a passion for making homes safer and smarter.

We are part of The Co-operators Group Limited, a leading Canadian insurance and financial services organization. We benefit from the strength, stability, and values of a nationally respected company. This partnership empowers us to innovate boldly, expand our impact, and offer our team members the resources and opportunities of a large organization, while maintaining the agility and heart of a close-knit team.

The Opportunity

As our Accounts Payable Coordinator, you’ll own the accounts payable cycle across three legal entities, from invoice to payment to reconciliation. Vendors and colleagues will rely on you to make sure bills are coded correctly, approved, and paid on time, and that every balance can be explained. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll also support the month-end and year-end close, including accruals, intercompany balances, and audit preparation. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented AP professional who enjoys getting things right, wants exposure beyond day-to-day processing, and is looking to make an immediate impact on a supportive finance team.

What You’ll Do

- Process vendor invoices accurately and on a timely basis, ensuring appropriate coding, approvals, and supporting documentation

- Ensure sales taxes (HST/GST) are recorded correctly on vendor invoices
- Set up and maintain vendor records in the accounting system, including verifying new vendor and banking information
- Prepare and process vendor payments, including EFTs and cheques, as part of the regular payment cycle
- Monitor the accounts payable aging to ensure vendors are paid in line with agreed terms
- Review vendor statements and reconcile outstanding balances, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required
- Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoices and payment status
- Manage the digitization and organization of vendor invoices and accounts payable files
- Reconcile the monthly corporate Visa statement, matching receipts to charges
- Record and reconcile monthly employee expense claims
- Prepare and record basic monthly journal entries
- Support the month-end and year-end close by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, including accrued payables, intercompany accounts, and the cash clearing account
- Assist with pulling backup documentation in support of the year-end audit
- Follow internal controls and AP policies, and identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes
- Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

Required

- 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

- Demonstrated experience processing vendor invoices and payments (including EFTs) and reconciling vendor statements.
- Solid attention to detail, along with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet month-end deadlines.
- Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables).

Nice to Have

- Experience supporting month-end close activities, such as accruals and intercompany reconciliations, in a multi-entity environment.
- Knowledge of ERP/accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, MS D365) and AP automation or document management tools.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and HST/GST as they relate to accounts payable.
- Progress toward the CPA designation or completion of accounting courses.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation, benefits, and other perks
- Collaborative and entrepreneurial culture
- Professional development opportunities
- Hybrid work model, with in-office presence approximately once per week
- Exposure to month-end, year-end, and audit processes across multiple entities
