About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate and emotionally mature individual to join a small support network for an adult woman who is working toward greater independence.
She currently lives in Airdrie and is exploring a move to a townhouse in southeast Calgary, Harmony or Cochrane. We are gathering applications now to identify suitable candidates as her future living arrangements are determined.
The role focuses on supporting independence, building confidence and providing practical assistance when needed, while respecting personal choices, privacy and autonomy.
This is not a live-in position or a full-time caregiving role.
Responsibilities
Depending on individual needs, responsibilities may include:
- Scheduled phone or text check-ins and regular in-person visits.
- Assistance with planning, organization and everyday problem-solving.
- Calm, practical support during stressful or unexpected situations.
- Encouragement with independent living skills and community participation.
- Assistance navigating social situations and personal boundaries.
- Backup coverage when other members of the support network are unavailable.
- Brief documentation of support provided.
- Appropriate communication with designated family members and other support people.
The goal is to encourage independence rather than create unnecessary dependence on support.

depending on support needs and housing arrangements

- Has reliable transportation and is willing to provide services within the greater Calgary region.
- Communicates clearly and maintains appropriate professional boundaries.
- Must have clean drivers abstract with valid Class 5 Operator's license

Experience with Supported Independent Living (SIL), community disability services or Family Managed Services (FMS) is an asset.
Contract Details
- Flexible part time engagement, with hours determined by individual needs.
- Combination of scheduled support and additional assistance by mutual agreement.
- Potential for the role to evolve as independent living arrangements are established.
- Compensation,
travel expectations and availability requirements to be negotiated.
- References and a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening, required.
The position is intended as a contract opportunity, subject to confirming an appropriate engagement arrangement under applicable requirements.
Our Philosophy
We believe that adults with disabilities should have meaningful opportunities to make their own choices, develop independence and participate fully in their communities.
The right support person knows when to offer assistance, when to encourage problem-solving and when to step back.
We are seeking someone who can build a respectful, trusting relationship while helping an individual achieve her own goals.
