About the Program
Transform standard babysitting into a launching pad for future leaders! Project Babysitter: The Babysitter Entrepreneur Program is an innovative, 5-hour enrichment curriculum designed specifically for Grades 6 and 7 students. We move beyond traditional caregiving instruction to equip early adolescents with both practical childcare competencies and foundational business acumen. Grounded in values of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Youth Empowerment, and Financial Literacy, our program shifts the narrative from "babysitter" to "entrepreneur." We provide a democratic space that values inclusion, diversity, and uniqueness.
The Role
We are seeking an engaging, child-centred, and enthusiastic Program Facilitator to lead this dynamic 5-hour curriculum. You will guide middle schoolers through the training to build their confidence as capable micro-business owners and responsible caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Interactive Sessions: Facilitate the 5-module curriculum engagingly, adapting to the energy and needs of early adolescents.
- Teach Childcare & Safety Essentials: Guide hands-on practice with age-appropriate games, practical first aid, and basic care via "Skill Share Stations."
- Implement Trauma-Informed Practices: Teach the "Low and Slow" de-escalation approach and guide "Empathy Mapping" to help students understand children's emotional states during stressful moments.
- Foster Financial Literacy: Teach the youth-adapted 50/30/20 Rule (50% Save, 30% Spend, 20% Re-invest/Share) using the hands-on "3-Jar Method" or digital ledgers.
- Empower Professional Branding: Support participants in creating a qualified "Child Bio" (portfolio), practicing parent interviews, and role-playing service pitches.
- Build Community: Facilitate community-building activities to foster a safe, democratic, and supportive environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with youth, specifically early adolescents (Grades 6 & 7).
- Strong understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-informed care practices.
- Excellent facilitation skills with the ability to lead role-playing exercises, skill-share stations, and group reflections.
- Basic financial literacy and a passion for teaching entrepreneurial concepts in an accessible way.
- Energetic, approachable, and capable of creating a welcoming, inclusive learning space.
Why Join Us?
Help shape the next generation of confident, emotionally intelligent youth! You'll leave a lasting impact by equipping graduates not just to handle childcare scenarios safely, but also to manage their earnings, market their strengths, and take pride in their work.
