Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Building Services to oversee building operations, maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry services within a well-established senior living residence.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of building systems, preventative maintenance programs, life safety procedures, and environmental services. You will also play a key role in managing departmental budgets, overseeing capital projects, and leading a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead all aspects of building maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and resident satisfaction.
- Oversee building systems and infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, elevators, generators, pool/spa, and life safety systems.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs, inspections, equipment records, and asset management procedures.
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations, fire safety requirements, infection prevention protocols, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop departmental teams, including recruitment, scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Manage departmental operating budgets, inventory, vendor relationships, and external contractors.
- Coordinate building repairs, capital improvements, and special projects in collaboration with the General Manager.




- Oversee housekeeping and laundry standards, including sanitation, infection prevention, and quality audits.
- Maintain emergency preparedness procedures, fire drills, and life safety documentation.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure resident suites and common areas are maintained and prepared for occupancy.

Qualifications & Experience

- Building Operators Certificate or a recognized skilled trade qualification through an Ontario college is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in facilities management, hospitality, senior living, or a related environment.
- Experience within a regulated healthcare or senior living setting is strongly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance, and facility operations.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Fire Code, Building Code, TSSA regulations, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Experience overseeing housekeeping and laundry operations is considered an asset.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, budgets, contractors, and competing operational priorities.
- Strong organizational, communication, computer, and problem-solving skills.
- Post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Engineering, Environmental Services, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.

Pay: $80,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
