Into Action Recovery supports men 19+ affected by substance use through respectful, trauma-informed, person-centred counselling and coordinated services.
Duties
- Provide individual counselling to residents with substance use concerns (3 sessions per week, per resident).
- Help residents set recovery goals and develop strategies for managing triggers, cravings, and setbacks.
- Work with residential staff to coordinate resident support.
- Keep timely, confidential counselling records and maintain professional boundaries.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up with healthcare providers, families, and relevant community services.
- Maintain accurate case notes and support data collection and research activities in line with privacy practices.
Employment requirements
- A master’s degree in counselling, counselling psychology, social work, or a related clinical field.
(CCAC and ICADC credentials also accepted)
- Knowledge of substance use recovery and a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to counselling.
- Robust communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a residential setting.
- Ability to work on-site in both Surrey and Burnaby.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check for working with vulnerable persons before starting employment.
Preferred qualifications
Experience in substance use counselling, residential treatment, or supportive recovery is an asset. Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation is welcome but optional.
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
