About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 20-year-old university student with cerebral palsy who uses an electric wheelchair. He is cognitively intact, verbal, and highly intelligent—currently attending Western University. He has functional use of his right hand and requires physical assistance with mobility, transfers, and daily activities. He's a typical young adult who enjoys video games and values building genuine connections with his caregivers. He needs support during specific weekday hours when his parents are at work and he's home from classes.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with physiotherapy program including stretching exercises and standing routine (30 minutes daily using tilt-to-stand wheelchair) • Support with mobility and wheelchair transfers using transfer board • Help with personal hygiene tasks such as hair washing from wheelchair, beard trimming, and grooming • Prepare light meals, snacks, and assist with eating as needed • Provide companionship and engage in age-appropriate activities • Ensure proper positioning and comfort throughout visit • Light tidying as needed in care areas • Accompany on short outdoor excursions for fresh air when weather permits

What We're Looking For:

• Experience with wheelchair transfers and mobility assistance • Knowledge of physiotherapy routines and stretching techniques • Comfortable working with young adults with physical disabilities • Patient,



calm demeanor with positive energy • Robust communication skills and reliability • Ability to build rapport and provide companionship • Respectful of client's independence and privacy • Male caregivers preferred but not required • English speaking

Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (6 hours per week). Schedule may adjust slightly based on university semester changes. No weekend or holiday coverage required. This is an ongoing position through the academic year with potential schedule modifications between semesters.

The client enjoys video games and benefits from companionship with someone they can connect with. Male caregivers have historically been a good fit. The client is not comfortable with toileting assistance from unfamiliar caregivers at this time, though this may change as comfort builds with the right person.
