About the role

Toradex Solutions Inc. is a premier provider of high-tech electronics design and full cycle product development and manufacture in the GTA. Our first-class in-house services have helped a diverse group of customers across North America and Europe develop innovative products. We are looking for an energetic, quick learner who is ready to contribute, grow, and explore exciting new technologies with us.

We are seeking an Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to develop, support, and improve surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly and box-build processes, while supporting lean manufacturing, process improvement, factory-layout design, and practical automation solutions in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

This hands-on engineering role supports new product introduction and day-to-day production, improving safety, quality, flow, productivity, and traceability through robust assembly processes, lean methods, work-cell design, ERP/MES integration, IIoT, automation, and agentic AI tools.

Reporting to the Operations and Manufacturing Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and leadership to turn improvement opportunities into measurable production-floor results.

About the Role

Bring ideas to life—fast. Join our manufacturing team and start designing, building, and launching practical solutions from day one. You’ll help make production safer, faster, and smarter—and see your work in action on the floor.

What You’ll Do

· Develop and support SMT assembly: Establish and optimize solder-paste printing, component placement, reflow, and inspection processes. Develop and maintain equipment programs, stencil and tooling requirements, setup documentation, and process parameters; troubleshoot assembly defects and improve first-pass yield.

· Engineer box-build processes: Develop assembly sequences, work instructions, tooling, and inspection requirements for enclosure assembly, cable and harness integration, PCB installation, fastening, labelling, and final packaging. Define torque requirements, error-proofing, and functional-test requirements with Engineering and Quality.

· Launch new products:

Review designs for manufacturability and assembly, assess bills of materials and production drawings, coordinate prototype and pilot builds, and resolve build issues before production release. Implement engineering changes and maintain accurate manufacturing routings, process flows, and revision-controlled documentation.

· Stabilize quality and production: Provide day-to-day engineering support, investigate defects and test failures, and implement root-cause corrective actions with Production and Quality. Develop process risk assessments, control plans, and validation criteria; support ESD controls, material traceability, and applicable IPC and customer workmanship requirements.

· Build production capability: Establish cycle-time and capacity baselines, balance SMT and box-build operations, and reduce setup time, scrap, and rework. Evaluate and qualify equipment and fixtures, support maintenance requirements, and train operators and technicians on approved processes and changes.

· Design it. Build it. Run it: Create compact process, test, and inspection solutions using pneumatics, sensors, motors, PLCs, vision cameras, and embedded controls.

· Shape the factory floor: Turn ideas into high-performing factory layouts, unlock smoother production flow, and build fixtures, jigs, poka-yoke devices, and ergonomic one-piece-flow work cells with the operators who use them.

· Connect the shop floor: Help integrate ERP and MES systems into production operations to improve data flow, visibility, traceability, and execution.

· Make lean happen: Identify and improve manufacturing processes through continuous-improvement kata, kaizen events, 5S, value stream mapping, standard work, and A3 problem solving, with quick iterations.

· Prove the impact: Deliver measurable gains in cycle time, quality, productivity,

and ergonomics—and share the results with leadership.

What You Bring

· A degree in Electronics, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, or a related field.

· Hands-on building experience from a co-op, capstone, design team, internship, or personal project.

· Practical experience supporting electronics manufacturing, including SMT assembly and electromechanical box build, with an understanding of solder-paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, inspection, assembly tooling, and production troubleshooting.

· 3D CAD skills—ideally proficient in SolidWorks—plus foundational knowledge of electronics, programming, PLCs, machine vision, or automation.

· Ability to interpret PCB assembly drawings, bills of materials, schematics, and mechanical drawings, and create clear work instructions, routings, and process documentation. Familiarity with design for manufacturability and assembly, engineering change control, and ERP/MES systems.

· Working knowledge of electronics workmanship requirements such as IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001, ESD controls, root-cause analysis, and process validation. Experience with solder-paste inspection, automated optical inspection, production testing, process failure mode and effects analysis, or statistical process control is an asset.

· A curious, practical mindset and the confidence to collaborate, experiment, and solve problems on the production floor.

· Additional assets include training in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or IIoT; manufacturing co-op experience; or exposure to machine vision, cobots, and industrial automation.

What We Offer

· Lead meaningful improvement projects from the start.

· Bring ideas to life on the production floor.

· Develop through hands-on experience and mentorship.

· Market-competitive salary with a performance-based bonus.

· Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.

· Ongoing career and professional development.

· A collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year

Benefits:

- Casual dress
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
