Job Overview

- Part-time position in a great Program providing care for a 37-year-old man with Down’s Syndrome, epilepsy, dysphagia, physical and developmental disabilities, requiring 24/7 care.

Location:

- Fraser St. & King Edward, Vancouver

Shifts to be filled:

- Thursday, Friday, Saturday (15:00 – 23:00)

Requirements:

- Experienced caregiver / support worker
- At least 1 year full time caregiving experience (including personal care)
- Lives within 30-40 minutes of work location
- Speak, understand, read and write English

Assets:

- Experience in health care or teaching
- Musical ability (guitar / piano)
- Swimming / basketball

The supported Individual (client):

- lives in his own suite in the family home
- is dependent in all areas of daily living and is non-speaking
- enjoys being physically active and out in the community almost every day
- enjoys visiting friends, going to music therapy, participating in community center activities, swimming, going for walks in the neighborhood, book reading,



playing on his swing.

Successful applicant will:

- Work supporting the client both on-site at home and in community,
- Support the client to be physically active and engaged during home and community activities
- Provide 1:1 personal care as required (ie: bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, eating)
- Receive and implement Program-specific training (ie: seizure management / use of client’s individualized communication system)
- Perform Medication Administration

Compensation:

Starting wage : $25.95 / hour

Wage range following successful 3 month probation is negotiable depending on education and experience
