THE ROLE:
Our Edmonton-based client is seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity supporting critical financial reporting activities, month-end processes, and key finance initiatives. This role is ideal for a designated accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with complex reconciliations and working papers, and can quickly contribute to a high-performing team

Responsibilities:
Lead month-end close activities, including reconciliations, working papers, and supporting schedules
Prepare financial reporting packages and support IFRS-compliant financial statements and disclosures
Perform detailed variance analysis and provide insights to support business decisions
Assist with finance-related projects, process improvements, and system initiatives
Support year-end requirements, including inventory counts, rollbacks, and reconciliations as needed
Partner with a collaborative finance team to meet tight reporting deadlines
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across accounting processes and controls

ABOUT YOU:
You are a designated accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and a proven ability to manage competing priorities in deadline-driven environments. You bring a hands-on approach to financial reporting, enjoy solving challenges independently, and continuously look for opportunities to improve processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
CPA designation required
Strong IFRS reporting and financial statement preparation experience
Proven success managing month-end close processes
Advanced reconciliation and working paper preparation skills
Experience performing detailed variance analysis
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong process improvement mindset
Experience meeting tight public company reporting deadlines
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to hit the ground running in a fast‑paced environment
Comfort supporting systems, projects, and shifting priorities
