Shape municipal planning in North Saanich through land use expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership of Planning and Community Services.

The District seeks an experienced Director of Planning and Community Services for its senior management team. Reporting to the CAO, you will oversee planning, inspections, bylaw enforcement, business licenses, and departmental workload. You will also guide policy implementation and provide clear recommendations to Council.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee planning, subdivision, building inspection, and bylaw inquiries
- Serve as Municipal Approving Officer when appointed
- Prepare Council reports, correspondence, budgets, and financial plans
- Administer consultant contracts and maintain departmental records




- Hire staff, manage performance, and coordinate departmental operations

Requirements:

- Six years’ public planning experience, preferably in local government
- Planning degree plus supplemental courses in planning
- Master’s degree in planning preferred
- Canadian Institute of Planners membership
- Knowledge of urban, rural, and statutory planning practices
