Greater Napanee Fire Services accepts paid on-call firefighter applications year round and ranks successful candidates on an eligibility list for recruit classes. Recruits complete the L&A; County Fire Recruit Program, about 70 hours over 8 to 10 weeks, with NFPA certification funded by the Town.

Key requirements:
- Valid Ontario Class G licence and ability to obtain a Class DZ
- Driver's abstract meeting the minimum standard
- Grade 12 diploma and at least 18 years old
- Current criminal background check (CPIC)
- Pass a department physical and be in positive health
- Live or work a short distance from one of the stations
