Our power and utilities client is seeking a Senior VMware Implementer to plan and implement upgrades using vSphere 8 and VCF 9.x across multiple data centers (Hybrid; Edmonton) [005-2026].

Overview

Drive a capital program upgrade within a power and utilities environment, modernizing VMware across Canadian and U.S. data centres. The role focuses on planning and implementing the vSphere 8 to VCF 9.x upgrade, coordinating with solution architects, executing workload migration, and contributing to schedules, testing, implementation, and transition to operations. The engagement runs through March 31, 2027 with an ASAP start and hybrid work in Edmonton.

Contract, Edmonton, Hybrid, Working Hours: MST

Must Haves

- 7-10 years of related experience in IT infrastructure
- Proven experience upgrading to VCF 9.x (vSphere 8 to VCF 9.x), including workload migration
- Experience in VMware Architecture, design, and implementation as a solution architect or system architect on infrastructure projects
- Workload migration to VCF 9.x
- Experience with the VMware stack: NSX-T, SRM, vSphere, vSAN, vLCM
- degree or diploma in IT, Computing Science or a related field

Nice to Have

- Lead VMware DR and High Availability testing including SRM and vSphere Replication
- VMware professional training: VCP-DCV, VCP-NV, VCP-TKG
- Solution/system architect skills supporting infrastructure projects
- 7–10 years related IT infrastructure; 4+ years with VMware including upgrading to VCF 9.x
- Understanding of IT business continuity, security,



and risk assessment and optimization methodologies

Responsibilities

- Work with an established team of solution architects to plan and execute the upgrade of the existing VMware environment to VCF 9.x
- Responsible for designing and implementing the upgrade across multiple data centres in Canada and the US
- Provide input to infrastructure project deliverables: schedules, test plans, test results, implementation plans and transition to operations
- Develop, implement and review support processes and procedures to ensure compliance with policies, standards and regulatory requirements
- Responsible for mitigating risk and documenting processes and procedures as needed
