Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Shear Operator to operate industrial shearing equipment, cutting and processing scrap metal for recycling. The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy machinery, follows safety procedures, and thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced industrial environment.

The wage range for this position is $24.00-$30.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate industrial shearing equipment to cut and process scrap metal and recyclable materials.

- Load, position, and prepare materials for processing using appropriate equipment and handling procedures.

- Monitor the shear during operation and identify any equipment malfunctions or performance issues.

- Perform pre-operational inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.

- Ensure materials are processed according to operational requirements and safety standards.

- Sort, handle, and organize scrap metal and other materials to support efficient yard operations.

- Maintain a clean, organized,



and safe work area.

- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures, and equipment operating guidelines.

- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production and operational targets.

- Perform other general yard duties as required.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience operating industrial shearing equipment or similar heavy processing machinery is preferred.

- Experience in scrap metal recycling, metal processing, manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment is an asset.

- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, or material handlers is considered a strong asset.

- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

- Ability to recognize equipment issues and report maintenance concerns.

- Valuable attention to detail and the ability to follow operational procedures.

- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

- Valid G-class driver's licence and reliable transportation.
