Land and Sky Grains is a progressive grain farm committed to empowering sustainable agriculture with an opportunity for a PERMANENT FULL-TIME or SEASONAL FULL-TIME (7 month contract) Primary Agriculture Production Operator WITH A CLASS 1A LICENSE.
Duties in this role can be a mix, including operating farm equipment, hauling grain, and maintenance of both farm equipment and properties OR can strictly be grain hauling if that is the preference of the applicant.
Essential Functions :
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment;
- Plant, and tillage operations;
- Perform general farm duties;
- Harvest crops;
- Fertilize and spray crops;
- Haul grain and/or assist in moving grain;
- Maintain equipment and shop, including daily preventative maintenance and winter repair and service;
- Use technology hardware/software for efficient task completion and accurate data collection;
- Maintain farm and landowner properties, including shop space and yard;
- Safely and efficiently operate a variety of power hand tools and large farm equipment;
- Participate in inventory management and communicate needs with manager;
- Maintain a neat and safe work environment;
- Work within a team.
What You Bring :
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Ability to frequently lift and carry items up to 50 lbs;
- Willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions;
- Class 1A Drivers license;
- Acceptable driver’s abstract;
- 2-3 years of experience in crop farming;
- GIS/GPS technology knowledge;
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to work longer hours during critical seasons;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of tasks and functions.
Assets :
- Post-Secondary education;
- Experience maintaining and repairing Heavy Duty, Agriculture, or Truck and Transport equipment; apprenticeship opportunities available!
- Administrative experience;
- Leadership experience.
