The LifeSkills Centre is looking for Skills for Life Summer Staff to support adults living with developmental disabilities and assist them in learning current skills. The ideal candidate is able to apply every-day life experiences into a creative learning experience that generates discussion, laughter, and positive energy.

Responsibilities

- Support adults living with disabilities in their goal to learn new skills
- Lead group lessons and follow lesson plans
- Provide a positive and supportive environment where clients are encouraged to achieve their optimum potential and learn the skills necessary to be an active member of their home and community
- Proactively develop learning opportunities and build relationships with the adults we serve and the parents/guardians who put their trust in us
- Ability to be creative, problem solve, and adapt
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, families, agencies, and other team members
- Work together as a team and support each other in providing support




- Solve Parent/Guardian concerns in a professional and customer focused manner and communicate information with other members of the team to stay updated
- Adhere to safety/security policies and practices
- Be active and use “out-of-the-box thinking”
- Ensure a clean and safe environment at all times
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

- Valid Standard CPR/First Aid Certificate
- CPI, SMG, or BMS training certificate
- Successful Criminal Reference Police check with Vulnerable Sector screening
- College diploma or University degree in relevant field (DSW is preferred, but will also accept others such as social work, etc.)
- Experience working with individuals living with developmental disabilities an asset, but not required
- References
- This position is ideal for new graduates

Working Hours: 8am-4pm Monday-Friday

Seasonal: April - Aug 31

Shifts available: Seasonal, Full-time
