Support Ontario’s Data & AI transformation onsite through Python, LLM frameworks, and inference work on the Ontario Data Platform.

The Government of Ontario seeks a data scientist for part time, 50% allocation work supporting platform initiatives and government use cases. You will run inference jobs, assist DSPy pipelines, prepare legal text datasets, and track evaluation metrics. The work supports the Ontario Data Platform’s data ingestion, storage, processing, visualization, governance, quality, and marketplace ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute batch inference jobs on Databricks and other environments

Troubleshoot inference issues and elevate model anomalies

Assist with DSPy pipelines and custom model configurations





Prepare legal text datasets for inference and evaluation

Maintain reproducible scripts and notebooks for inference runs

Requirements:

Background in Computer Science, Data Science, or AI/ML

Familiarity with Python, pandas, scikit-learn, or PyTorch

Exposure to DSPy, LangChain, Hugging Face, or equivalent

Comfort with Databricks, MLflow, or cloud ML environments

Detail-oriented organization for tracking experiments

Apply data science skills in Python, LLM frameworks, Databricks, and MLflow while supporting Ontario’s enterprise data ecosystem onsite.
