Support animal care and surgical preparation as a full time Veterinary Assistant on a 12-month contract, Sunday through Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Under veterinary direction, you will assist Registered Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians with clinic and animal care. The work includes surgical support, medication administration, medical records, and daily rounds. You will help animals progress through shelter stages appropriately.

Key Responsibilities:

- Handle and prepare animals for surgery and emergencies
- Clean surgical instruments, supplies, kennels, and clinic areas
- Administer medications, vaccines, and parasite prevention treatments
- Conduct daily rounds and wellness examinations for new intakes




- Maintain surgical records and coordinate animal movements

Requirements:

- Post-secondary education or experience in animal care
- Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, volunteers, and public
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations
- Basic Microsoft Windows, Word, and office equipment familiarity
