Operate highway equipment and support roadway maintenance full time from TxDOT’s Hondo Maintenance Office in Medina County, west of San Antonio. Protect traveling motorists through skilled field work.

TxDOT is hiring one Transportation Maintenance Technician I, II, or III. Assignments include traffic control, equipment maintenance, roadway repairs, emergency response, and work with signs, guard rails, and materials. Level depends on experience, education, skills, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform equipment inspections, servicing, minor repairs, and required reports
Operate loaders, haul trucks, graders, excavators, and other equipment
Maintain highways, rights-of-way, roads, signs, and guard rails
Support traffic control, emergency response, motorists,



and law enforcement
Train employees or lead crews at the Technician III level

Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a state vehicle
Commercial Class A license with N endorsement requirements by level
Technician I requires no transportation maintenance experience
Technician II requires one year of related experience
Technician III requires two years of related experience

Use heavy equipment, roadway maintenance, and traffic control skills supporting protected highways across TxDOT’s Hondo area.
