Advance detonation engine research through computational fluid dynamics and experimental validation in a full time, in office NRC Aerospace fellowship.
This two-year postdoctoral fellowship focuses on attritable uncrewed aerial system swarm propulsion. You will develop and evaluate a novel inlet architecture for detonation engines. The research aims to establish feasibility for low-cost, high-efficiency propulsion systems. Fellows work in a laboratory under direct supervision of an NRC researcher.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop novel inlet architectures for detonation engines
Apply computational fluid dynamics to propulsion research
Conduct experimental validation of proposed inlet designs
Evaluate feasibility of detonation engine inlets
Work in an NRC laboratory under researcher supervision
Requirements:
PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
PhD obtained within three years or completion within six months
Basic additive manufacturing design experience
Basic advanced cooling technology experience
Basic compressible flow experience
Apply propulsion research, computational fluid dynamics, and experimental validation to attritable UAS swarm technologies at NRC Aerospace.
