As a Research Officer within Quantum and Nanotechnologies, you will support research involving thin-film optical materials and photonics devices. The position requires an MSc or PhD in a related physical science or engineering discipline. Relevant expertise includes spectrophotometry, spectroscopic ellipsometry, interference-filter design, vacuum deposition systems, thickness monitoring, and Python. Candidates must communicate clearly and work effectively in team-oriented, milestone-driven research environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Study thin-film optics, optical filters, and waveguide optics




Characterize optical materials using specified techniques
Fabricate multilayer optical coatings through vacuum deposition
Monitor film thickness during coating fabrication
Work collaboratively in milestone-driven research settings

Requirements:
Degree related to thin-film optics
Experience designing thin-film interference filters
Experience with vacuum thin-film deposition systems
Programming experience such as Python
Knowledge of semiconductor device basics

Bring research experience in thin-film characterization, filter design, vacuum deposition, and optical coating fabrication to NRC.
