**Job Title: Fiber Technician** **Job Description** We are seeking experienced Fiber Troubleshooting Technicians who can quickly diagnose and resolve complex fiber-optic failures in a fast-paced data center environment.

This is an advanced troubleshooting position requiring high proficiency with OTDR testing, interpreting failure reports and test results, identifying the location and cause of fiber issues, and determining the fastest path to resolution. **Responsibilities** Perform advanced OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting to quickly identify the location and cause of fiber failures.

Interpret failure reports, OTDR traces, loss events, and test results to diagnose issues including high loss, reflectance, fiber breaks, failed splices, damaged connectors, and bend loss.

Isolate faults across fiber, splices, connectors, cassettes, patch panels, and equipment connections and determine the appropriate corrective action.

Complete repairs or remediation and re-test fiber to confirm successful resolution.

Work closely with installers, splicers, leads, and commissioning teams to rapidly resolve issues and minimize downtime/rework.

Document troubleshooting results and maintain testing equipment in proper working condition. **Essential Skills** 3+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting fiber-optic systems.

Advanced proficiency using OTDR equipment.

Ability to independently read and interpret OTDR traces and fiber failure reports.

Strong understanding of dB loss, reflectance, distance-to-fault, splice loss, connector events, and fiber breaks.

Experience using fiber testing equipment such as OTDR, Optical power meter, Light source, Visual Fault Locator (VFL), Fiber inspection scope.

Strong understanding of fiber cleaning, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting procedures.

Ability to work under pressure and provide rapid problem resolution.

Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

Ability to troubleshoot independently rather than simply follow installation instructions. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** Copper experience. CSTS certification.

The role predominantly involves sitting and splicing throughout the day.

Travel to and from sites is facilitated by buses.

There are three shifts available: 7am to 5pm with commuting paid, 3pm to 1am based in Mackenzie, and 11pm to 9am also based in Mackenzie.

Some shifts offer less overtime and varying days off, including some with both Saturday and Sunday off, while others offer just Sunday. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Mackenzie, BC. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $52.00/hr.
