As our company continues to grow, we are looking for a skilled and motivated electrician who wants to become an important part of our team.

The Position

We are seeking a qualified Journeyman Electrician or highly experienced Electrical Apprentice who is confident in their abilities, takes pride in their work and can operate independently.

The ideal candidate will be capable of managing projects, troubleshooting electrical issues, coordinating with customers and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work and wants the opportunity to grow with a smaller, expanding electrical company.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform electrical installations in residential and light commercial environments.
- Complete electrical rough ins, finishing, renovations and service work.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
- Organize daily tasks, coordinate materials and manage job site productivity.




- Communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors and other trades.
- Lead projects and supervise apprentices where qualified and authorized.
- Ensure all installations meet Canadian Electrical Code requirements and applicable Alberta regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Represent Elk Electric professionally while working at customer properties.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Alberta Journeyman Electrician certification or registration as an experienced Electrical Apprentice.
- Strong knowledge of residential electrical installations and troubleshooting.
- Experience with light commercial electrical work is an asset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision within the scope of your qualifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to quality workmanship.

Additional experience considered an asset:

- Lutron Caséta, RadioRA 3 or other lighting control systems.
- Smart home automation and integration.
- Audio/video and structured cabling installations.
- Security systems and low voltage wiring.
- Custom home electrical installations.

Experience with these technologies is beneficial but not required.

Compensation and Opportunities

- Starting wage of $45.00 per hour for a suitably qualified candidate.
- Potential wage progression up to $60.00 per hour based on experience, performance, responsibilities and technical knowledge.
- Initial three month probationary period with performance review.
