Journeyman HVAC Installer (Residential)

About Us

JGJ Heating and Cooling is a growing residential HVAC company based in Beaumont, proudly servicing Edmonton and the surrounding area. Founded in June 2024 by three hands-on partners (Justin, Garrett, and Jacob), we specialize in new construction homes, infills, suites, multi-family projects, and retrofits.

We design all of our own heat loss and duct layouts in-house, so you will always walk onto a site with a clear, accurate plan. We run a tight-knit, steady operation with solid builder relationships, no corporate red tape, and owners who are right there working on the tools alongside you.

Duties

- Equipment Installation: Execute precise installations of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment and components in strict accordance with project specifications and system schematics.
- Job Execution & Compliance: Perform comprehensive on-site tasks, including job markouts from architectural plans, rough-ins for stacks and venting, concealed duct installation, setting and finishing furnaces and HRVs, completing air conditioning setups, and successfully navigating municipal inspections.
- Coordination & Site Management: Collaborate closely with project team members, provide timely updates regarding work progress, and maintain clean, organized, and secure job sites.

Skills

Required:

- Qualifications & Certification: Holds a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker ticket (Alberta) or possesses equivalent, verifiable experience independently managing residential HVAC installations at a journeyman level.
- Experience:



Demonstrated expertise in residential new construction, including comprehensive proficiency in job markouts, rough-ins, concealed ductwork, and final installations.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining proactive updates with company management, site supervisors, and allied trades (framers, plumbers, electricians) regarding project milestones, obstacles, and material requirements.
- Work Ethic & Professionalism: Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to workmanship, accountability, punctuality, and prompt problem resolution.
- Requirements: Possesses a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a complete set of personal hand tools.

Preferred:

- Certification & Licensing: Holds a valid Gas Ticket (Class B or higher) for safely setting and commissioning furnaces.
- Regulatory Compliance & Inspections: Thoroughly familiar with City of Edmonton municipal inspection standards, including stacks, concealed ductwork, and final walkthroughs.
- Air Conditioning Expertise (Strongly Preferred): Demonstrated proficiency in complete A/C installations, encompassing setting condensers and coils, running line sets and condensate lines, as well as executing pressure testing, vacuuming, and system startup.
- Specialized Systems: Holds a Refrigeration ticket or possesses hands-on installation experience with heat pump systems.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Capable of mentoring, directing, and leading apprentices or helpers on site to maintain productivity and high standards of workmanship.
